Native
Composed of only a single element; not combined with any other elements.

Native elements (group)
It is a group of minerals which contains naturally occurring minerals having a molecular structure of only one element, like Copper, Sulfur, and Diamond. Metallic and semi-metallic alloys are also included in it, as they are composed only of two or more metallic or semi-metallic elements of varying percentage, such as Iron-Nickel (Fe,N1) and Allemonite (As,Sb). Gold and Platinum minerals are considered such though they are never 100% pure gold or platinum. They contain indefinite traces of other elements causing them to be metallic alloys. The native elements can be divided into three groups. They are metallic elements, semi-metallic elements, and the non metallic elements.

Natural coke
It is those type of coal which is carbonized by contact with an igneous intrusion or natural combustion.

Natural gas
It is the hydrocarbons which occur as a gas or vapour. It is usually methane, but sometimes propane may also be present.

Natural glass
It is an igneous rock which forms with the rapid cooling of molten rock.

Neogene
It is the part of Cenozoic Era which comprises of the Miocene and Pliocene epochs from 23.8 to 1.81 million years ago.

Nesosilicates
It is a group of silicate minerals containing only single, non-combining groups of tetrahedrons.

Neutron
It is the naturally charged particle of an atom which resides in its nucleus.

Nitrates
It is a group of minerals containing one or more metallic elements along with the nitrate radical (NO3). They are fragile and soft but soluble in water, hence found only in arid regions, primarily in dry lake deposits. Since nitrates are a small group, it is sometimes classified as a sub-category of the carbonate group.

Nitric acid (HNO3)
It is a corrosive acid that is used in the manufacturing of explosives and fertilizers. It nature is destructive and destroys many minerals.

Non-crystalline
One whihc do not contain any crystals.

Non-metallic elements (subgroup)
It is the minerals which belongs in the native elements group and they do not exhibit any metallic properties (except graphite). They are light in weight and even can be transparent.

Nuclei
It is the plural form of nucleus.

Nucleus
It is the center of an atom containing protons and newtrons.

Nugget
It is a term used for compact, waterworn, amorphous mass, which are found in placer deposits.
